Congratulation! You are a mom now. Being a new mom feels like “Round the Clock Job”. Adjusting to new motherhood can be challenging, though it brings happiness and surprises along with sleepless nights and changes in your regular life.

1. Struggling with Breastfeeding:

Most of the time new moms feel intense pressure from their family, friends, and doctors to nurse their newborn properly and recommend breastfeeding for the benefits it offers both mother and newborn. Many medical community strongly encourage moms to keep the breastfeeding for minimum 1 year. For the first few weeks it’s really hard to do perfect breastfeeding, it takes practice and patience to get it right.

2. Partner Conflict:

The demands of the new member to the family can negatively impact on the relationship between mom and dad. If there is no agreement like how to share the workload then one parent may feel he/she is carrying the complete weight of taking care of the newborn. This situation can sometimes lead to tensions and arguments in the relationship.

3. Change in Daily Routine:

The newborn needs more attention and care. Your life may become a never-ending cycle of feeding, putting him to sleep and changing diapers. In addition, you need to wash your baby cloths, keeping bottles sanitized, buying baby supplies. Here time swiftly passes by without the achievement of other family gals. So being a new mom you have to accept it and keep going with patience.    

4. You Feel Fat:

As a new mom, you will be bombarded by images of celebrity moms, it can take time for your body to see like our own again. It’s very rare case to find new moms who lose their weigh right away. Generally it takes at least a year to get back to the pre-pregnancy size. Though it’s good to have some exercise into your daily schedule when you can but try not to hyper-focus here.

5. A Perfect Mom:

Most of the mothers feel a great pressure for nursing their newborn. Trying to be a perfect mom will make you crazy. You can try to be a good enough mother instead of perfect one. You will make mistakes by nature, you and your house will be messy. Don’t feel guilty, accept the babies cry and don’t take it as the sign of your failure as a parent. Some people will comment or criticize on everything about your mom skills, just thank the person for the tips and keep doing what you feel is best for your baby.  

Nursing a baby is a big responsibility to parents. They should be well equipped with required information on how to manage a baby’s life. These 5 challenges can easily be overcome with adequate preparation, understanding your baby’s need will help new moms to maintain the family balance properly.
